The Underlying Meaning

Last week, when many moderates were condemning Harry Reid’s statements about there was going to be a public option in the Senate bill, Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla made the following statement;

“Intense days and nights lie ahead. Senators who don't like the bill will find themselves the focus of a "prayer session”. They will pray that the retribution of God doesn't come down on them."

The real underlying question in his remark is was he referring to Obama and his wrath. We have seen the strong arm tactics already used on others who disagree and many democrats are very leery of crossing “The One”.

I guess we will see today how much influence "The One" has with the voters in Virginia, New Jersey, and the 23 district of New York. I expect there will be rebellion.

Slim - i would wager there will be less rebellion than the ass kicking the republicans have taken at the polls lately, or do your blinders impair your ability too appreciate the democratic majority in the house and senate, which was a mandate from the people? Hmmm.....

Anon,

What mandate? The current president has broken every campaign promise he has made. How is that "Hope" and "Change" working out? 10% unemployment is pretty steep. The promise of the Stimulus bill was to cap unemployment at 8%. The majority blindly went along - what do we have? Economic chaos - the government now owns GM and Chrysler. The dollar has declined in value and the communist chinese are buying up our debt. Wow!

Slim, don't worry. After raising taxes to fund the large bureaucracy required to implement the 1900 pages of legislation outlining the government takeover of healthcare, Obama will be moving on to reducing our CO2emmissions. No, the clown doesn't have a clue.

Criticize all you want, but Obama kicked your McCain/Palin ticket's ass. Fortunately, the majority of US citizens are brighter than you.

Obama won the whole while pretending he was something he was not and the people who voted for him were hoping he was that something that he's not. More than a few wish they had that vote back.

The debate here is why we used to have a constitution to protect the people from an over reaching government and the notion of the majority rules democracy.
If 99% voted to tax 99% of Warren Buffett's wealth, should we do the same?
The election of Obama does not give him a mandate to run over the capitalists and movers/shakers because there is a populist notion to punish success.

Amen to the last comment! Whenever the Libs win an election, (mainly because the Republicans blew the last election by nominating a lousy moderate candidate) they see a mandate that really is not there. Whatever that perceived mandate was, it is now gone - this is the message sent by voters in New Jersey and Virginia. Note: The two winners in these two elections are strong conservatives running on positive ideas for how to govern in the future. That strategy is a winner every time it is tried.

Obama promised to go to Washington and drain the swamp. Then he realized he couldn't really do that because both he and his cronies are part and parcel of the slime. Last night may signal the voters have decided proceed with the draining themselves.
