Heart Hospital gets construction release to begin

The Kentuckiana Medical Center or "the Heart Hospital" as many call it, recently received the design release certificate above.

This gives them the official nod to begin construction and if you have driven by Veterans Parkway you will see it is underway.

The land is now leveled and getting prepared for the foundation. The estimate for construction is 12-15 months.

For all the skeptics and naysayers the competition is getting closer and unless Floyd turns things around and changes the environment, they will have an even tougher time paying the bills and trying to overcome the multimillion dollar "adjustment" created by this administration.

Now that you are back in your usual "trash the hospital" mode, maybe you could respond to this earlier posting which you ignored:

Now you say, "The current Chairman is doing an excellent job" and "given enough truthful information, he and the majority will make the best decisions."
So just what is it that is to be accomplished by urging your readers to contact their county commissioners? What kind of rabble-rousing, pointless, exercise is that all about?

Why don't you get off your administration support mode. Read the blog from the beginning.

It doesn't take a genious to figure out that the CEO and his cronies need to go.

How far in debt does an organization need to get before people understand the real problem.

I still want to know what the most recent bond rating is. Was it not supposed to be reevaluated in June.

Who is covering this up?

Well "genious" HB said that the board chairman could handle the situation and then went around him and suggested that readers should contact their county commisioners. Two things seemed to be missing: (1)The specific purpose of the contact, and (2) any sense of actually trusting and supporting the board chairman.

You have no evidence or facts to base your accusations.

Your disdain for HB blinds you. The County commissioners are the ones ultimately responsible and should be informed from the public who vote them in about problems and concerns related to our county hospital.

If more people would have done this in the years past, we would not be in this position now.

Pressure would have been too great for the Commissioners to not take a more active role.

I am still waiting on the current bond rating. The commissioners need to know this as well.

It sounds as if accountability is threatening to you just as it is to the CEO.

If you are doing things right and appropriate, accountability should not scare anyone.

No one is held accountable at the hospital, for anything, no matter how big the foul up is.

Is HB still an investor at the "heart hospital"?

What does "genious" mean? Is it anything like "strategery?"

Who showed W how to use the computer? We'll get you for this...

Instead of using this as another opportunity to let the attack dogs loose, let's take a moment to celebrate the developments and advancements that are taking place in the area. While I'm sure everyone on this blog is an expert, it might be wise to wait and observe the course taken by the new hospital before damning this new venture before it has a chance to do anything, good or bad.

By the way, HB, nice pictures from Montana. I love the West.

HB and his partners withdrew from investing in the heart hospital when they were reappointed to the Board and Vice chief of staff positions.

For those critics, this shows where there priorities lie and that personal financial gain was secondary to trying to improve Floyd Memorial.

They had an opportunity for significant financial benefit if they would have invested in the heart hospital.

They have integrity. The CEO has none

Oh yeah, lots of integrity. He spent a long time considering this investment and, during all that time, he was bashing Floyd Memorial on this blog. And from what I heard from a board member, he didn't just volunteer to abandon the investment opportunity--he only walked away after being told by others that it was a conflict of interest. He did not reach that decision on his own.

It will be a good source of jobs for those that leave Floyd. Morale is at an all time low.

I used to encourage friends and insist on family going to Floyd for any hospital related services. After recent experiences with a family member, I can no longer endorse the care nor the facility. It was abyssmal. From the inattentiveness of staff, to the dirty room, and lastly, a septic roomate, it was a fiasco.
The reputation and goodwill of FMH have been ruined.
