Newest Appointees

Recently, our County Commissioners made the final Board of Trustees appointments to Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. They replaced the current Chairman of the Board by not reappointing him to a third term and they replaced Darrel Mills who became our new Sheriff in January. We wish Darrell success in his new job.

The two newest appointees are in addition to the two they added in December for 1 year terms. The four new members are:

Dr. Guy Wall Professor of Education at Indiana University Southeast on a 1 year term.

Mr. Jerrol Miles on a 1 year term.

Dr. Stuart Eldridge (Pediatrician) on a 4 year term.

Mr. Don Gibbons on a 4 year term.

These four will join the existing five that includes Ms. Mame Garner, Von Marshall, Kay Garry, David Atkins and Keith Megraw( http://www.healthinsurancebydesign.com/ )

The Medical Staff is very hopeful that the newest members will keep an open mind to the current situation and not shy away from challenging some current ideas and practices.

With the “resignation” of the CFO, many are hopeful that this may be the stimulus for some necessary changes to enhance and secure the future of FMHHS.

I don't know why you think the "resignation" of the CFO will stimulate change. He was not the person that needed to go, or what needed to be changed. I suggest before you lend anymore support to the "resignation" of the CFO that you actually talk to the staff that worked with him. He is greatly missed around FMHHS and his leaving only brought about poor morale and mistrust of administration, which did not exist previously. I as well hope that the new board members have more insight then the previous ones.

Reading the names of the new appointees. They sound like a good group but don't you think they made a mistake putting a doctor on there. (ha). Seemed they didn't like having you Dr. Dan on there. Maybe they changed their minds and decided to get some professional input.

If it wasn't for this blog, we employees wouldn't know a thing about the new board members or who they are. Why the continued secrecy and guarding of information that is either already gossip in the hall, or already out on the BLOG? The previous poster says the CFO's leaving brought about poor morale and mistrust of administration.
What about lack of shared information, and and varied, inconsistent, communication?

The terms of board members need to be at least two years. I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr Miles and his wife who was a RN at FMH. He will be at great person to have on the board. He was also on the NAFC School Board for several years. We need people that have knowledge of how hospitals and business mix. We also need physicians on the boards. Maybe, the County Commissioners will finaling see the light. Now, can you also see the light and get rid of Mr. Hanson, he is the problem! and not the answer!! The best hospital administrator that I have seen was Mr. White. He got things done, employees liked him, better moral, the hospital was in the black. We weren't out to make huge statement, we were a County hospital. The new lobby and hospital looks totally out of place. We need more staff to care for what we have and not space and fancy quarters. So, good luck new appointees, you will need it. Weed out Hanson and Garners little helpers, don't let them have there way. You are loosing valuable employees.
