Successful Hunt

I hope these pictures are not offensive to anyone, but is was a successful hunt this Thanksgiving holiday.

I was able to bag 2 deer on Saturday morning and it will keep my freezer full of venison for the next year.

For me and many of my friends, being able to observe nature and be a part of it is truly awesome.

Watching the sun rise and everything in God's creation spring to life each day reinforces my belief in the design of our world.

I feel blessed to be a part of it and strive to keep a healthy balance with all of nature.

Well done!

Alas and alack, my poor husband has had no success. Fortunately there is one week left.

There is something about reading "Watching the sun rise and everything in God's creation spring to life" under a picture of two dead deer who are done with their springing.

Congrats on the kills. But I just want to stir the pot a bit. After being forced to work Thanksgiving and this past Friday at Floyd I couldn't help but wonder. How is it that administration gets two days, probably holiday pay, for Thanksgiving and I had to work both days they were off and only got holiday pay for one day? People can say that morale is not low at Floyd, but believe me I'm not the only one who is steaming about this one.

...looks like *fun* getting to play God with the woodland creatures? HOw can you exalt *everything in God's creation* then put a bullet through it's heart? Could you explain this...?

It's 'cuz God's a do-it-yourself kinda guy, i.e., "He" put all of it here for the highest form to use.

Or something like that.

My theory's not without flaws, though, as it doesn't explain coffee shops in tax-exempt megachurches.

For every buck that is harvested, a younger one moves up to take it's place in the herd. Once they have reproduced one and thus contributed their DNA to the gene pool, they are superflous to their species. For each of you asking how HB could have taken a deer, have any of you ever gone fishing? Oh wait, fish are just not as cute.

What does a coffee shop in church have to do with hunting?

One person changed the subject to something about hospital work schedules. I changed it to coffee shops in churches.

Morale is low at Floyd. Many positions are not being filled, not sure that this is common knowledge. I believe the true picture is not being painted to the employees. We're hearing things are not good financially.

A final thought:

I didn't intend to suggest that the coffee sales are tax-exempt.

It was merely free association with several articles I read yesterday and today.

And, make no mistake: I like venison. Substitute it for lamb in Greek recipes ... incredible. But although my father was a hunter, I'm not.

That's why I always bring the beer.

I know it may seem a bit boastful, but I believe humans are much more important than animals. Animals are provided for many reasons and one of which is to be consumed by us.

It doesn't matter if it is fish, birds, deer, etc. We just don't eat each other.

The hospital situation is worsening and rumors of layoffs are in every department.

More on that in the days to come

Please lets not get HB back on the Hospital tirade again.

But, in retrospect why don't we all get together and nominate him for one of the new Hospital Board positions. Maybe he won't have time for maiming one of "God's Creations"

I personally prefer to read HB's (and his wife's)hilarious takes on why all mainstream scientists are wrong about the age of the universe, solar system and Earth and how evolutionary theory is bunk and should be supplanted by the "absolute truth" that all currently living animals descended from the survivors of Noah's Ark.

Hmm, we seem to be in agreement somehow.

Wait ... I was being sarcastic. Whew - that was a close one.

While all of the posts here contain valid points,I must admit that I too like venison. In the words of Al Purnel, "it's goooooooooood."

So, to HB, I say, "good job! Save me a steak or a summer sausage!! Oh...wait...I'm supposed to be losing weight...Hhhhhhmmm..."

Well congratulations anyway.

In response to anonymous' statement "Please lets not get HB back on the Hospital tirade again."
When is pointing out facts considered a 'tirade'?

Hopefully HB, in his new role, will bring up questions with some 'challenging' answers for leadership. Like, for instance, How did we get in this situation?

Most employees not aware of the financial picture and mismanagement that hase transpired this past year (not sure even HB knows the whole picture?).

The typical progression/ scenario of an institution in a tenuous financial position goes something like this:

*budget cuts
*management is told no new FTEs will be granted,
*open positions are not filled, and/or management is told "don't recruit aggressively"
*"money-losing" departments or divisions are sold or eliminated
*more budget cuts
*open positions are on hold
*managers are asked to do more, including things outside their normal job scope, with the same resources
*open positions are not filled indefinitely
*employees are asked to do more, including things outside their normal job scope, with the same resources to fill in for positions not filled or replaced
*open positions are eliminated
*financial packages are offered to long tenured employees to encourage early retirement
*employees hours are decreased (full time to part time, part time to less # of hours worked)
*employees experience layoffs

Is the hospital headed down this path? People are worried and concerned.

What is the truth?
