Opening Day

OPENING DAY of GUN SEASON

Starts on Saturday and this is what we are after. This is taken earlier in the year by a friend of mine. It is a 10 pointer still in full velvet. Rare picture.

I have been out bow hunting several weekends and have many deer on video, but have not yet taken one.

I'll be out all weekend looking to bag the big one.

Good luck! My husband will also be out in search of the one that will best fill the freezer. then we'll process it at home, as we've been doing for about 10 years!

I can't pass up the obvious. Please don't take Dick with you. Even though we mostly disagree, I certainly wish you no harm.

I would be ashamed to brag about bagging the big one. If you don't absolutely need the deer to prevent you from starving, I would stick to the camera bag and just take pictures. Killing such a beautiful animal just for trophy and sport proves something about a person's personality. I would venture to say they are callous and uncaring traits unbecoming to a Physician.

Well I have to stick up for HB on this one. I am not a hunter and I love to watch Deer, but most hunters do eat deer meat. The way the deer are killed is way better than Cows,Pigs, etc. If you don't believe me google rendering plants and read for yourself.

I used to be very anti-hunting until I realized, when I met my husband, that there is a big difference between hunters who hunt for food and those who are trophy hunters.

Using your skill to hunt a deer, then using its meat for food, is a lot more humane than going to the grocery and buying hamburger.

Who cares? Live your life and forget everyone else. People spend too much time worrying about everyone else when they should be sorting out their own life. If someone wants to hunt, let them hunt. If someone wants to buy hamburget meat at Kroger, let them. Just be thankful we live in a country where we are free to do either (or both), without the interference of government or anyone else. HB, I'll defend you on this one, but you should apply this principle to other issues as well.
